🌿 What does "hand-picked" really mean? This is how our fly agaric harvest works

You often read it in product descriptions: "Handpicked." Sounds high-quality—but what's really behind it? In this article, we'll show you transparently and honestly how our fly agarics are harvested, dried, and sorted—and why we're proud of the term "handpicked."

🍄 Step 1: Searching in the forest – only under certain conditions

Our harvest begins in late summer and continues well into autumn – always in controlled, natural mixed forests, far away from roads, industry or contaminated soils.

We pay attention to:

 ✅ Gesunde, kräftige Pilze mit intakter Kappe

 ✅ Reife Stadien (nicht zu jung, nicht zu überreif)

 ✅ Nachhaltige Entnahme – es wird nicht der ganze Bestand abgeerntet

We work exclusively with trained collectors who know the locations and treat nature with respect.
🧤 Step 2: Hand-picked selection directly in the forest

Each fly agaric is individually harvested by hand, inspected and pre-sorted on site:

 Pilze mit Schädlingsbefall oder Schimmel werden nicht verwendet

 Verfärbte oder beschädigte Hüte werden aussortiert

 Es kommen nur die schönsten, kräftigsten Hüte mit in die nächste Stufe

💡 “Hand-picked” means: no mass cutting, no machines, no compromises on quality.
🌬️ Step 3: Gentle drying

The fresh hats are dried gently at low temperatures as quickly as possible to preserve their color, structure and active ingredients as best as possible.

Drying can take several days – we take our time because quality cannot be rushed.
👐 Step 4: Final inspection & manual sorting

After drying, all hats are inspected again by hand. We sort them:

 Nach Größe (z. B. für Deko-Zwecke oder für Räucherung)

 Nach Zustand (intakt oder leicht gebrochen)

 Nach Farbe (kräftiges Rot vs. blasser Ton)

Only after this second hand-picking do the hats or powder go on sale.
